Prof. April Armstrong


Dr. Armstrong will coordinate the program and planning of the 7th IFPA Conference. She is Associate Dean of Clinical Research at Keck School of Medicine at USC. In her research, Dr. Armstrong is particularly interested in the appropriate use of systemic agents, comparative effectiveness research, technology-enabled healthcare delivery, and comorbidities associated with inflammatory skin diseases.

Prof. Laura Coates

Co-Chair in Rheumatology

Dr. Coates provides the rheumatological voice to this multidisciplinary committee. Dr. Coates is a Senior Research Fellow at the National Institute for Health and Care Research in Oxford, England. Her research is clinical and focuses on psoriatic arthritis and the spondyloarthritides including early diagnosis of PsA, development of PsA specific and validated outcome measures, optimal treatment pathways and strategies in PsA.

Prof. Ulrich Mrowietz

Co-Chair in Dermatology

Dr. Mrowietz is head of the Psoriasis-Center at the Dept. of Dermatology, University Medical Center Schleswig-Holstein, Campus Kiel. His main research areas in psoriasis include management strategies, drug development and basic research. The Chair of the 6th IFPA Conference, Dr. Mrowietz returns to the SEC as Co-Chair.

Barbra Bohannan


Ms. Bohannan is Coordinator of Policy & Research at Psoriasisförbundet in Sweden. On the Scientific Executive Committee, she is responsible for facilitating the scientific program and speaker selection. Ms. Bohannan is a talented advocate with lived experience with psoriatic disease. This is her fourth IFPA Conference as Secretary to the SEC.

Scientific Programming Committee

We are honoured to present the esteemed members of the IFPA Scientific Advisory Board, a distinguished group of renowned experts in the field of psoriatic disease. The board is comprised of expert Rheumatologists and Dermatologists, and plays a pivotal role in shaping the clinical direction, offering treatment guidance, and overseeing provider education initiatives within the realm of psoriatic disease.

The Scientific Advisory Board contribute to the meticulous review of the conference program, ensuring its alignment with the latest advancements and best practices in the field. Their commitment to excellence and dedication to advancing the understanding and treatment of psoriatic disease are evident in the important role they play in shaping the conference’s scientific content.

The Scientific Advisory Board members have previously served as Conference President in the last six IFPA Conferences. This leadership experience underscores their deep commitment to the IFPA Conference mission and their significant contributions to the continuous evolution of the conference over the years and to their continued impact on the success of the IFPA 2024 conference.

Complementary Program Committee

The Complementary Program Committee is designing the Complementary Program.

The Complementary Program is primarily made for allied health professionals, non-specialists, patient leaders and industry representatives who attend the IFPA Conference.

The program focus on topics such as daily life problems for patients, psychosocial aspects, ”hands on”, best practice, healthcare professional/patient relationship, patient safety, treatment adherence and challenges, and advocacy.

Chairman, Psoriasis Association of Kenya

Hoseah Waweru, M.D. has been practicing as a dermatologist for almost four decades and is both founder and long-serving Chairman of the Kenya Association of Dermatologists. Dr. Waweru has specialized focus in psoriasis care and is the founding President of the Psoriasis Association of Kenya. Throughout the years, he has delivered many lectures on psoriasis across the world. Dr. Waweru has been past chairman of the complementary program at the 5th and  6th World Psoriasis & Psoriatic Arthritis Conference , now known as the  IFPA Conference.

Mahira El Sayed MSc, MD

Co-Chairman of the complementary Program of the 7th IFPA CONFERENCE 2024

Professor of Dermatology and Venereology at Ain Shams University, Cairo, Egypt.

Head of the Egyptian Board of Dermatology.

Board member of the International psoriasis council.

Prof. El-Sayed is the Head of the Egyptian Board of Dermatology and involved in the ministry of health combined committee for Biologic therapy for psoriasis patients together with her fellow rheumatologists. She has lectured widely at international meetings. She is a member of multiple national and international dermatology societies and has organized many congresses. She is very committed to improving the outcomes for patients with psoriasis in Egypt and has on numerous occasions lobbied the government to improve access to healthcare and medicine.
